There are so many different online marketing strategies that you can use to help you promote your local business online and some are more effective than others. There are three solid ones that will work for you as long as you put in the time and consistent effort. These are the three I recommend above all else to help you build an online presence, share your knowledge and promote your content.
Getting started online is usually the biggest stumbling block for any business and if you don’t have the time outsourcing this work is the best way to go.
Install A WordPress Blog
If you have a free WordPress blog up or a free blogger one change that tactic and invest in some hosting then install a WordPress blog. You can add it to the same hosting that your website is on or if you don’t have a website use your blog as a blog and website.
As long as you are a regular writer your WordPress blog will help promote your local business and help it get found by potential customers looking online for a product or service. I recommend you buy a domain name, buy yourself some hosting (if you would like us to host your WordPress blog get in touch) and get going. Or let us install the whole thing for you.
A great way to reach out to people and share what you know. You can create video testimonials from your customers, take people round your shop. If you are an expert like a plumber why not make videos that show people how to change a washer – chances are they will want you to do it for them. If they don’t they will still remember how you helped. So you benefit whichever way it goes. People are not looking for perfection when you make videos (most of the time!), they want information that will help them and when you can provide that they listen.
Social media marketing
Depending on what your local business does and who you are looking to attract you can use a Facebook Page, a Twitter page and a LinkedIn page (for business to business) – or you can use all three. The thing to decide here is which one contains more of your customers. If you know they are tweeting spend time learning how to do that effectively and use just Twitter. That is a far better strategy than trying to engage with all three and not really successfully using any of them.
Use your profile to share your own content but also share interesting content related to what you do that you find on news sites. Don’t make your social media page only about you because that becomes boring.
So there you have it, three online marketing strategies to help you find customers online using a blog, video, and social media marketing.
